About Grant Powell
J. Grant Powell (“Grant”) is a third generation real estate man. While young in years, he is old in experience. He has learned the business from his grandmother and father who have a combined real estate experience of over 80 years. He started his career at the bottom and was given no special treatment. The family owned and operated a real estate brokerage was sold before Grant had a year’s sales experience under his belt. After the sale, despite strong family urging to select a different career path, Grant stayed the course joining Premier/GMAC Realtors. During his time, he earned various awards including Top Sales Executive of all seven offices. He has been a trainer and speaker on real estate sales and marketing. His marketing concepts were innovative and utilized modern technologies.
Grant’s sales success was not enough. Driven to do more, to be more successful, Grant individually, and sometimes with investors, purchased property. The majority of the time, investment property was purchased, renovated and sold. Other times, ownership of the property was retained and rented out. This added to his financial success considerably but he found that he still wanted to do more. His childhood dream of running his own real estate company became a reality in 2002 when he re-opened Marie Powell & Company along side his grandmother, Marie Powell, and father, Jack Powell.
But Grant’s vision included more than just a real estate brokerage. He envisioned a one-stop shop for purchasing or selling a home. As a result, there are in-house mortgage (Interim Capital Mortgage), title (Pasadena Title) and development companies. Over the past five years, the division has completed the Venetian (a five unit condo on Treasure Island), the Island Grand (a seven unit condo on Treasure Island), the Catalina Grand (a twenty unit condo on Treasure Island), and several single family homes. Current projects include the Redington Grand (12 units) and Riverbend Townhomes.
Most recently, Grant has opened Powell Home Solutions. A company that helps homeowners in financial distress to either refinance, traditionally list property, or connect to an investor who will quickly purchase their home. Additionally, the company helps investors find foreclosures and purchases home from the courts.
